Fast-lane girl

Day 2 / #the100dayproject – #100daysoftravelnotes

“You must be one of them girls in the fast lane”
said the guy in front me
as he turned around to see
who was following him so closely
Sound of my heels going tick tock tick tock tick…

He was wearing a grey-ish crock on his left foot
A faded red all star on his right
Holding a bunch of papers
And chewing something invisible in his mouth
Did he have teeth?
It didn’t matter. He had the talk.

As I passed him in a rush to work
He was on a roll, like a commentator at a football match
Exclaiming:
whooo you got it going on girl! You got it going on…

One block later I was still trying to decipher whether that was an insult or a flirt
Or simply a stating of facts

At the height of my coffee jitters it becomes even harder to decipher what is reasonable and what isn’t
What I do know
Is that my caffeine high
Is not that different from him enjoying his upper of choice
And that there is really very little difference between this guy and I

I wonder what was written on those papers
It probably had a lot more meaning to it
Than whatever I’m about to type within the grey walls of the office
I’m headed
As one of those girls
In the fast lane.

__________

I told him he was right, by the way. And gave him a big smile. 🙃
